We drove out to the trail head Friday night despite the weather stating it was going to be a very wet weekend and stayed at the Graves Creek campground. We woke up at 6ish in the morning and drove to the trail head which is literally right down the road and started off. It was barely raining when we started and through our hike in I would say it rained on and off about 60% of the time. we were lucky enough to not have to deal with a down pour and got some sun along the way. But once at camp we had a small snow storm that lasted about an hour an a half and it rained all through the night. When we woke up the skies were clear and calm. You could see every peak, it was absolutely gorgeous. It took us about 7.5 hours to cover the 14 miles it takes to get to the Chalet and on the way out we tackled that 14 miles in less than 6 hours. Talk about going beast mode. Along the the way we saw a few herds of Elk and a lot of birds. Once at the Chalet there was an enormous black bear who wandered around the valley. He basically hung around the whole time we were there. He was no threat but was definitely a little dependent on human food. We found a huge trail of pasta and trash that others had left behind. We cleaned up most of it but it was very sad. But all in all such a wonderful trip! The Enchanted Valley is nothing short of Enchanted ;)
