Kodak Peak is a side trip deep in the Glacier Peak Wilderness for those on the Pacific Crest Trail. As it's name implies it has amazing views and perhaps more than a few blueberries in season.

The peak will come easily once you've paid the admission price to get to its short little side trail. The stretch of the Pacific Crest Trail where it resides is deep in the wilderness equally difficult to access from either the east or west sides. A minimum of 16 miles round trip and 2700 feet of gain will get you to the eastern shoulder of this former fire lookout.

Meander Meadows and Cady Ridge Loop is the recommended approach for this hike. From the junction of the Little Wenatchee Trail (at the west end of Meander Meadows) and the PCT turn north for about 1/2 mile. The PCT traverses the southern face of Kodak and reaches its eastern ridge at a beautiful wide saddle. A boot track turns west and up the ridge line. This trail winds through small rock outcrops and a few patches of krummholz but mostly just beautiful low green shrubbery.

After a quick 420 feet of gain you will be rewarded with award-worthy scenery! Glacier Peak dominates the scene to the north at over 10,500 feet. June, Johnson, Long John, White, Skull Cap, Stuart, and many other peaks surround you in a 360 degree display. If you brought your bivy bag this would be a great place to watch the stars. Water is scarce in these parts though, so plan ahead.

Getting There

Proceed to the junction of Highway 207 and Highway 2 at Coles Corner. This is 20 miles east of Stevens Pass, or 15 miles west of Leavenworth. Turn north on 207, and four miles later, just past the bridge over the Wenatchee River, bear left to remain on Highway 207.

Continue for 6.3 miles, then bear left on Little Wenatchee River Road. Continue 6.1 miles and bear right at junction on F6500. Continue 6.3 miles until the pavement ends, then continue for three miles on dirt road.

Note: Check trip reports for current condition of this section, as it can be rough. Park at the end of the road at the Little Wenatchee trailhead.

Once at the trailhead it is a 16 mile round trip hike to the beginning of the Kodak Peak hike.
