The 2020 legislative session is over, resulting in some exciting wins for our state’s public lands!
Our lawmakers showed a strong commitment to outdoor recreation in the state, and now we are asking the WTA community to thank them for their hard work over the past two months.
These are some important items included in the final budget (you can find more details here):
- $500,000 for the No Child Left Inside program to provide further access to the outdoors for youth and underserved communities
- $2.3 million for operations and maintenance for Washington State Parks, which will help provide access to the outdoors and expand outdoor recreation in Washington
- $75,000 in one-time funding for the Recreation and Conservation Office for an outdoor recreation advisory group to explore sustainable funding sources
- $35,000 for implementation of SB 6670, which allows any library to request two Discover Passes to make available for checkout by library patrons
Please join WTA in thanking your lawmakers for their strong show of support and commitment to Washington’s public lands!
